Reading of the Week

THE BIRTH

Long ago there came to man one born of virgin birth Sent to work His Father’s plan to give us second birth Isaiah saw with his own eyes long before His coming This Son, the Saviour, on the rise As well, His second coming Immanuel, God with us, His name long past announced When born they called Him Jesus.

His name was thus pronounced Gabriel, God’s messenger, bore from God His news Suddenly surprising her t’was Mary God did choose. The wise men found the manger in which the Christ child lay Gold and frankincense and myrrh our King received that day That Christ was born in Bethlehem the prophet Micah saw That Christ would wear the diadem and now fulfill the law. The one who would receive Christ would thus be born again In Him God paid the perfect price to purchase souls of men That Christ would languish on the cross forgiveness on his breath Since Christ has come to save the lost, we’re saved from second death.
