God’s Gift of Love
by f. mundle
The heavens declared God’s glory
One time in Bethlehem
The Magi knew the story
A bright star beckoned them
On camels through the desert sand
To gift the King of kings
They journeyed from a far off land
While angels came on wings
Upon arrival at a manger
The star yet hung above
All viewed the gift that God had given
In sacrificial love
And there they lay their precious gifts
Of gold for royalty
And frankincense as it befits
This child of deity
Another gift had to be given
A gift we know as myrrh
To be applied beyond nails driven
As one day would occur
While angels hovered to rejoice
Addressing shepherd men
This infant child would one day voice
You must be born again
The star above, the cross ahead
Our Lord was born to die
And some time later he will wed
His Church, His faithful bride
